Calgary, Alta. – This Giving Tuesday, ENMAX Corporation is proud to gift $150,000 to community partners to help Albertans facing increased living costs. The contribution also supports energy affordability programs including essential needs funding, energy efficiency education and conservation programs to help save energy.

“ENMAX is proud to support our community partners to help them provide essential services for people in need,” said ENMAX’s Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Vice President, Safety and Community Engagement, Brandie Yarish. “On Giving Tuesday—and every day—ENMAX believes in giving back to help strengthen our communities.”

These donations are part of ENMAX’s commitment of more than $1,000,000 to support affordability programs this year, donating:

• $200,000 to the United Way of Calgary & Area to support the Basic Needs Fund.
• $175,000 to the Alberta Ecotrust’s Home Upgrades Program to help people reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.
• $170,000 to Trellis Housing & Support and Winter Breather programs to help local families facing eviction or financial instability with financial support and access to community resources.
• $145,000 to Distress Centre Calgary to support Calgarians in financial crisis.
• $60,000 to United Way Central Alberta’s Lights on Fund in Red Deer.
• $60,000 to Bissell Centre Community Bridge in Edmonton to support residents facing eviction from their homes.
• $50,000 and $70,000 in-kind including energy efficiency kits to Green Calgary to support complimentary energy efficiency workshops and help increase awareness about energy-saving measures.
• $35,000 to Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary to support Indigenous people in Calgary with basic needs for winter.
• $25,000 to the Lethbridge Housing Authority’s Utility Support Fund to help people with their energy bills.
• gently used work clothing and over 100 pairs of boots to the Calgary Drop-In Centre to help people secure employment opportunities.

As the founding partner of Trellis’ Winter Breather Program, ENMAX’s support helps people by offsetting the cost of groceries, utilities and laundry supplies.

As well, as part of ENMAX’s annual employee giving program, ENMAX is double matching all employee donations to its energy affordability partners.

ENMAX team members also volunteered their time from setting up festive lights and making energy efficiency upgrades at community associations, building snuffle mats for animal shelters and assembling hygiene kits for partners including Calgary Drop-in Centre, Distress Centre, Calgary Food Bank and the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, and taking part in the annual Movember campaign.
